Breast Lift Surgery
Over time and with age, it is not unusual for a woman to experience sagging breasts. When age has taken its toll on your breast tissue, but you still want a natural look you need to consider options to restore your breasts to a more youthful and symmetrical shape. In this case, you would consider a breast lift procedure, known as a mastopexy, to restore your breasts.
What is a Breast Lift?
A breast lift is a surgical procedure that helps reshape and restore sagging breasts. While surgical, there are numerous ways your plastic surgeon can approach the procedure. A UELC surgeon will assess which type of breast lift is right for you, and if you have excess skin, we can remove that too.
Some methods for a breast lift include:
- Standard Breast Augmentation: An augmentation involves the use of breast implants to lift and add volume to your breasts. They add definition and shape. When you have a consultation, your surgeon will assess the size of breast implant needed.
- Standard Lift: When breasts begin to sag, a mastopexy can reshape and restore the breasts. This procedure does not use augmentation with breast implants, and instead, focuses on the excess skin for a natural look.
- Almost Scarless Breast Lift: This procedure uses a mini-incision and offers 24-hour rapid recovery with minimal pain, a faster healing process, and reduced swelling.

Who is a Candidate for Breast Lift Surgery?
To qualify for a breast lift, you need to be in good health and have a realistic outlook about what your breasts can and will look like. Usually, women with small or sagging breasts will achieve better results, however, any size of breast can be lifted.
If you have stretched skin and reduced volume from pregnancy or nursing, a breast lift is a good option for you. Keep in mind, if you plan on having more children, your implants may stretch and sag once again. Therefore, it is best to have the procedure completed after you are done having children.
What to Expect from Breast Augmentation Procedures
Depending on which procedure you is best for you, it could be completed in as little as two hours. First, you will receive anesthesia, which increases comfort during the procedure. After anesthesia, your surgeon will make an incision based on the surgical plan. Sometimes the incisions are around the areola, while other times they are both around the areola and vertical into the breast’s crease. Your surgeon will begin reshaping the breast by lifting existing breast tissue or adding an implant. If necessary, excess skin will be removed at the perimeter of the surgical site. Finally, your incisions are closed.
Recovery Following a Breast Lift Procedure
Recovery from a breast lift will depend on which type of surgery you undergo. However, you will have dressings or bandages applied to the surgical site. You must wear an elastic bandage or bra to minimize swelling and give your breasts support while the tissue heals.
You may have a drainage tube inserted to help remove fluid buildup at the surgical site. Your surgeon will provide you with detailed instructions about aftercare, including medications, how to take care of the stitches, and when you will have your follow-up.
How Much Does a Breast Lift Cost?
The breast lift procedure will depend on which method you have opted for at our surgical centre. A breast lift with augmentation will cost more than a standard breast lift. Therefore, we can provide you with a no obligation quote so that you understand the cost of your procedure.
