This is a surgical procedure to remove excess skin and underlying fat from the upper eyelids, lower eyelids or both.
The eyelids are one of the first areas to show the effect of aging. Signs of fatigue and aging are usually seen readily around the eyes. Drooping eyelids, dark circles and puffy under-eye bags can make you look older than you are, and certainly older than you feel!
If under-eye concealers, targeted eye-firming creams and getting plenty of rest hasn’t helped reduce the bags under your eyes, the good news is that there is a way to permanently regain a more youthful and refreshed eye area: eyelid surgery.
The eyelid lift, clinically known as blepharoplasty, involves the removal of fat, excess skin and muscle from the upper and/or lower eyelids. Blepharoplasty is also sometimes used to add an upper eyelid crease to Asian eyes. Blepharoplasty is easily done and is a short procedure that can significantly enhance your look.
At our clinic, eyelid surgery can be done alone or in conjunction with other facial surgery procedures such as a facelift, an endoscopic brow lift, or laser treatment to reduce wrinkles, laugh lines and crow’s feet for results that truly turn back the clock.
In most cases, the blepharoplasty operation takes from one to four hours. Typically, incisions are made in the creases of your upper eyelids and just below the lash line in the lower lids. Our experienced oculoplastic and plastic surgeons meticulously remove excess fat, and often trim sagging skin and muscle. The delicate incisions are subsequently closed with very fine sutures. Depending on the severity of the concern and the desired outcome, only the lower lids, or the upper and lower lids (double lids), may be operated on.
